TED is a global nonprofit dedicated to spreading powerful ideas through short, impactful talks. Launched in 1984 as a conference out of Richard Saul Wurman’s recognition of a strong overlap among three broad fields: Technology, Entertainment, and Design, TED has grown into a worldwide platform for thinkers, changemakes, and visionaries. From TED Talks and TED-Ed to global initiatives like Countdown and the Audacious Project, TED continues to foster meaningful conversations that inspire action. With over a billion views and talks translated into 100+ languages, TED believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and the world.

TEDx is a local, independently organized event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. Guided by the spirit of “ideas that change everything,” TEDx events feature live speakers, recorded talks, and a strong focus on community-driven impact. While TED provides the framework, each TEDx event is locally-organized and tailored to reflect the ideas and voices of its local community. TEDxOAU is an independently organized TEDx event hosted at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. It provides a platform where the brightest minds in and around the OAU campus share bold ideas and transformative visions.
